Ahhh....The Joys of Changing Weather
So lately postings, and all other forms of communicating have been somewhat on the sparse side and for that I apologize. I will spare you all the boring details and give you the Cliff Notes version of the past week (beginning with Sunday the 25th.)
Sunday
After a nice, relaxing visit with the family my sore throat develops into a nice giant, mucus-y cold/flu.
Monday
Boss from the North informs Tim and I that our services will no longer be needed at the Atlanta office as of Dec. 28th, which was expected (see previous entries) and went much better than we had suspected. We were actually relieved to finally get an end date and I probably would have been more upbeat about the whole thing had I not had a root canal directly after...which went pretty well too, for a root canal.
Tuesday & Wednesday
These two days are actually a little fuzzy due to all the cold/flu medication I was taking followed with fevers and lots of laying on the couch in an unmovable vegetative and congested state.
Thursday
Against my better judgment, I went for my final tattoo session. In the back of my mind somewhere, I'm sure willingly subjecting myself to a few hours of needles grinding into my back while still fighting off a cold, is listed as "Not Smart" but I was eager to get have it finished so I went anyway. I'll blame the decongestants on this one.
*On a side note, I'm not really one to complain about self-induced pain such as going to the dentist (the above mention not included), fantastic shoes that are 4" too tall, or Shoot 'Em Up (seriously, I knew better).....but a tattoo on the ribs? never again. not ever.
Friday, Saturday & Sunday
I spent the entire weekend in bed or on the couch recovering from Monday - Thursday.
The good news is I am finally starting to get better.
The bad news is that I now have an overwhelming addiction to House and believe the answer to everything is now Lupus.
I'm hoping this week goes better.

It's Monday.....enough said.
13 Minutes until files are completely transferred to my newly purchased hard drive. Then my bags will be officially packed and I'll be ready to leave this place. The time to move on has been long overdue and now that its rapidly approaching I'm getting antsy. You would think that being the professional procrastinator that I am I would be trying to put this off until, oh, I don't know, the 5th of whenever I get to it, check the calendar but I think thats a Wednesday.
I suppose that as I've grown up I've gotten less patient with waiting for the inevitable to happen. Now I'm more like, I know its coming, let's just get this ordeal over and done with so that I can move onto more important things, like staying up to date on the pivotal Gyllenspoon situation as well as discovering that duelling is legal in Paraguay as long as both parties are registered blood donors (that would just be senseless violence otherwise, right?)
There's just no point in dragging out this mess. In fact, it makes lugging my where-did-the-weekend-go-so-fast-ass into work more and more difficult every week. But I'm here and the thought that gets me through the day? "At least I don't have this guy's job"

How To Tell You're About To Lose Your Job
1. Futile efforts of appeasements from middle management now surpass the "derelict and all but non-existent" level into the "it is now our full-time job to make you think everything is ok, everyone is happy" level. (At first this enraged me, then it amused me and now its just downright shameful)
2. At any given time there are at least two office doors closed for "private meetings"
3. The company is bought by another company who has been in the last year been moving all divisions to their "new" offices in Chicago....piece by piece. Atlanta is now the only outsider remaining...really, you don't need a a PhD to figure this one out.
4. Out of the original 15 people who started in this office, 8 now remain and none of the other 7 positions have been filled.
5. The manager of the office is terminated and a replacement is brought the next week. Her office is also in the afore mentioned city.
6. Discussions of future work becomes vague and sporadic.
7. Cookies and doughnuts keep somehow showing up in the common area. (Don' try to distract us with treats. You know how yummy and irresistible sugar cookies are and to put them in the middle of this nasty business is just wrong and unforgivable.)
8. Anyone within a 50 yard range of the feng-shui fallout shelter you refer to as an office for middle management can quite plainly here declarations to the person on the other end of the line that "it" is for sure going to happen, and we are all well tuned in to what "it" is referring to.
9. Your new boss flies into town with an external hard drive and ask for you to copy all of the companies images and catalog files that were made by you and your co-workers for her to take back to corporate with her. And to also make a detailed catalog/company identity file listing all the pms colors, fonts, and overall general identity of the company that you and your co-workers created. Someone is doing some shopping around...I won't name names though.
10. You return from lunch and now your door key mysteriously stops working.
